Software Modernization

Replace the system everyone is afraid to touch, one safe step at a time.

Old software is expensive to change, hard to hire for, and risky to leave alone. We modernize it incrementally: understand it, put tests around it, move it piece by piece to a modern stack and cloud infrastructure, and keep the business running the whole way through.

What the engagementincludes

A dark call-routing device with a red indicator light
  • Assessment

Code, data, and infrastructure reviewed, with a risk map and a phased plan you can budget against.

  • Safety net

Characterisation tests, monitoring, and data validation around the existing system before anything changes.

  • Incremental migration

Features moved to the new stack behind the same interfaces, with both systems running until each piece is proven.

  • Decommission

The old system retired module by module, with documentation and training for what replaces it.

How weget it live

  1. 01

    Assess

Three to four weeks to understand the system and produce a phased plan with costs and risks.

  2. 02

    Stabilise

Tests, monitoring, and infrastructure as code around what exists, so changes are safe.

  3. 03

    Migrate

The highest-value, lowest-risk pieces move first, shipping improvements every sprint.

  4. 04

    Retire

Legacy components switched off as their replacements prove out, with the savings tracked.

Questions we hearabout software modernization

Do we have to rewrite everything?
Almost never. We rewrite what blocks you, wrap what works, and retire what nobody uses. A full rewrite is the last option, not the first.
Will there be downtime?
Migrations run alongside the existing system, and each cutover is small and reversible. Planned downtime is the exception.
What if the original developers are gone?
That is common. We recover understanding from the code, the data, and the people who use it, and document it as we go.
